Therapeutic Case Manager Conflict Resolution Service

JOB DESCRIPTION

Interested in a career enriching the lives of children and young people?

Conflict Resolution Service has an opportunity for you to join Canberra’s first-of-a-kind Innovative program that provides therapeutic support to young people and their families.

The Safe and Connected Youth (S&CY) program provides children and young people aged between 8-15 years and their families with support to improve family functioning and reduce the risk of homelessness and the harms and risks linked to homelessness. S&CY works with children and families experiencing family conflict and where there is a risk of youth homelessness to address their complex and intersecting risk factors through a child centred/family focused integrated service model. The program aims to improve family functioning and address the diverse needs to improve outcomes for individuals and families and reduce the risk of family breakdown and youth homelessness.

Conflict Resolution Service are the lead agency in partnership with Marymead, to deliver this integrated service.

The Therapeutic Case Manager (TCM), in close collaboration with the Family Mediator, program Team Leader and Senior Manager, facilitates the preservation and reunification of young people and their families in the Safe and Connected Youth program (S&CY). TCM’s provide ongoing, regular, and responsive case management support to the child/young person and their family, delivered primarily as outreach whilst leading therapeutic interventions aimed at resolving conflict between young people and their families and dealing with the effects of trauma, conflict, and abuse. Working with the whole family gives the TCMs intimate knowledge of each family members’ individual challenges and each individual’s perspective. This meta-knowledge allows the worker to build a comprehensive case in support of the families’ needs. Therapeutic case work support is provided as an early intervention strategy, designed to prevent further conflict, and is not crisis support. This support focuses on the psychosocial needs of the child/young person and their family. TCMs support each family member to address emotional dysregulation and put into practice the skills and strategies identified and developed in the conflict & communication coaching sessions and agreed to in family mediation.
