Therapeutic Case Manager IFP – Family Preservation Be Recruitment Company

JOB DESCRIPTION

Our Clients Intensive Family Preservation Team, work to support vulnerable families who are at risk of further escalation in the child protection system.

We’re looking for creative, experienced, organised self-starters to provide assessment, crisis management, and longer-term casework to families at high risk of having their children removed into care for protective concerns or who are having their children restored to their care.

This is an intensive family preservation role whereby you will be working with families in their homes on an intensive basis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Providing planning support and structure for the safety of children and young people and taking appropriate action where the safety of the child or young person is at risk.
  • Assessing families’ strengths and needs using approved assessment tools.
  • Assisting families to formulate and achieve goals that are child-focused and address the safety and well-being of children.
  • Facilitating the development and implementation of case plans with families.
  • Participation in agency on-call roster essential (rostered on once every 10-12 weeks).

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Social Science, Psychology, Counselling or related field highly desirable
  • Minimum 2 years casework experience working with children and families within the child protection system
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a caseload and case planning with families experiencing complex trauma
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong relationship building skills; building and maintaining strong therapeutic relationships with families is an integral part of this role
  • Demonstrated understanding of child protection issues with an ability to assess risk and experience in conducting risk assessments and working with court orders
  • Committed to children and young people remaining with their family, provided they are safe
  • Drivers license and ideally own car

This person would need to be confident and willing to be working out in the community and in the family’s homes between 3-4 days/week.  Traveling to South West Sydney (Bankstown, Fairfield & Liverpool) and South East Sydney (St George/ Sutherland and Inner West) to visit clients.

The successful applicant will need to be fully vaccinated (2 doses) and be subject to satisfactory police and wwcc.
