About the opportunity

IFYS Accommodation Services has an opportunity for a Therapeutic Case Worker to join the team across our Caboolture and Maroochydore Youth Crisis Accommodation programs, and Nambour based ‘The Old Church’ Youth Accommodation program.

The Youth Accommodation programs provide young people experiencing homelessness to access short or medium term accommodation and therapeutic support.

Our ideal candidate will possess a strong client-centred practice framework, have sound knowledge of local services and resources, and experience working with young people in a therapeutic capacity.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Engage with young people and ensure a safe and therapeutic environment
  • Conduct intake and initial assessments with young people requesting accommodation and support in alignment with guidelines
  • Create individualised support plans with young people to meet their needs and goals
  • Assist young people to develop new living skills and participate in the community of their choice
  • Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of all aspects of the shelter to a high standard
  • Completing a range of administrative tasks in a timely manner

Requirements for the role:

  • Experience working with people exhibiting challenging behaviours and complex needs or an understanding of the impacts of trauma on a young person’s life
  • Ability to work across Caboolture, Maroochydore and Nambour locations
  • A go-getter attitude with the ability to adapt to changing situations and remain calm in the face of a crisis
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly, especially with young people
  • Flexibility with hours of work and available nights and weekends over a rotating roster
  • Qualifications in or currently studying Youth Work, Mental Health, Community Services, Human Services or Social Work highly desirable

Must hold or be willing to obtain if successful:

  • Valid QLD driver’s license with no restrictions
  • QLD Working with Children Check (Paid Blue Card)
  • Licensed Care Suitability Check (LCS2)
  • National Crime Check (A new check will be completed through IFYS systems)
