Building Stronger Families (BSF)– Working with Refugee and Migrant Communities to Increase Family Safety is a partnership project to deliver culturally adapted Men’s Behaviour Change (MBC) Programs, to specific refugee and migrant communities in their own language in Western Sydney. In collaboration with cultural leaders/stakeholders and communities, we deliver a culturally responsive model focused on improving family safety and strengthening family relationships, whilst building on cultural strengths and taking into account settlement issues.
What you’ll do
Relationships Australia NSW and Settlement Services International are seeking skilled and enthusiastic staff for a joint project funded through the Domestic and Family Violence Innovation Fund (Women NSW). The employer will be Relationships Australia NSW unless candidates are SSI employees already.
We are seeking a Therapeutic Caseworker to work specifically within the Building Stronger Families Project. Cultural expertise and bi-lingual skills in Arabic is required. The work is suitable for case workers experienced in domestic family violence and specifically working with men in a cultural context.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Provision of in language quality therapeutic casework for MBC program participants focusing on behaviour change
- Provide casework intervention as required and in consultation with the Family Safety Manager
- Apply person centred, trauma informed, MBC practice and strength-based approach to working with clients
- Enable clients to start taking responsibility for their behaviours
- Address identified risks to victims and children
- Maintain service to clients from referral to closure as appropriate, including all clinical and administrative tasks

- Contract to 30/6/24
What you’ll bring
- Experience in working with families that have experienced family domestic violence
- Casework experience with individuals and families
- Experience in working with men who use violence
- Experience in working with culturally diverse backgrounds
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including bi-lingual skills fluent in English as well as fluent Arabic
- Formal graduate qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or other relevant disciplines.
