THE ROLE
The Therapeutic Counsellor will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide ongoing therapeutic counselling, treatment and support to young people, develop and maintain appropriate referral pathways, and work with other services in the Primary Care setting. This role seeks to address mental illness and is inclusive of all gender orientations, cultural considerations and socio-economic demographics.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE Will be experienced and able to demonstrate their ability to work holistically with young people with mental health and drug and alcohol issues including indigenous, refugee and CALD and low socio-economic backgrounds.
Provide focused therapeutic counselling and psychological interventions to young people using evidence-based practice, utilising your experience in therapeutic work. and be passionate about advocating on behalf of young people.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Tertiary qualifications in Counselling, Social work, Psychology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy or similar
- Medicare Benefit Schedule (MBS) accredited and registered provider ie. AHPRA, AASW, AOT
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in providing therapeutic interventions to support young peoples mental health, as well as their carers and families
- A demonstrated understanding of mental health assessments, referrals, and coordination of care for young people
- Experience working independently in regional areas
- Valid Driver’s License, First Aid Certificate, NDIWC, WWCC & COVID vaccination evidence including booster.
