About the Role – Maitland Location

We are seeking an experienced female team leader who is kind, caring and passionate about helping others. You will be working directly with complex trauma, psycho-social and learning challenges. You are a mature mentor and great listener with a dedication to ensure people feel heard, valued and empowered. With a passion to provide unique, person-centred support to achieve aspirations and goals, you enjoy relationship building and being a part of the journey with those in your care. In the role of team leader you will be accountable for the day-to-day operations of the participant’s program. You will mentor, supervise and lead a team of support workers providing care and support for people with high and complex needs in a residential setting, ensuring a therapeutic, trauma informed approach to the daily structure of the program. Additionally, you will be responsible for creating and implementing the team’s fortnightly roster, with some sleepover shifts and weekend work required.

Skills and Experience

  • Certificate or Diploma in Community Services or similar equivalent tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in the Community Services Disability Support sector

Success in the role will be supported by your 

  • Previous experience as a team leader/manager or house coordinator role in residential care.
  • Ability to manage challenging and confronting behaviours in a calm and consistent manner.
  • Understanding of the need to provide culturally appropriate services for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people
  • Interpersonal and communication enable sensitive and effective connection with a broad range of people, cultures and abilities
  • Understanding of trauma-based behaviours and trauma informed practice and therapeutic approaches
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Capacity to promote inclusion for people living with a disability to participate freely in the community.
