About the Role 

The Therapeutic Mentor is a key member of a small team of mental health professionals and youth workers who are relentless in their pursuit of doing things better and differently. The team is deeply supportive and caring. We meet young people where they are at, we listen, support and connect and provide them with the tools and confidence to move forward together. As a Therapeutic Mentor you will provide program support, coordination and therapeutic mentoring for young people participating in our suite of program offerings.

You will mainly be working with young men in this role.

Essential Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Education, Outdoor Education, social sciences, or youth work
  • At least three years relevant experience and high level skills in supporting young people with complex needs
  • Completed outdoor adventure/education guide qualifications and experience (or at minimum, in process)
  • Clear Working with Children Check and Federal Police Check 
  • Current clean Drivers Licence
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Senior Lifesaving Certificate 
  • Proof of full vaccination with an approved COVID 19 vaccine

Essential Criteria:

  • Demonstrated ability to connect in a meaningful way with diverse young people, using trauma informed, creative and youth-friendly strategies to build skills and maintain engagement.
  • Experience in case management, mentoring and providing outreach services.
  • Experience measuring, evaluating and adjusting program activities to ensure meaningful outcomes.
  • Demonstrated skills in managing time, setting priorities, planning and organisation of workload. 
  • High level of culturally appropriate interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Understanding of child safety principles and practises.
