About the Role
The Therapeutic Specialist plays a coordination role within Intensive Therapeutic Care program undertaken by Life Without Barriers. The incumbent demonstrates a commitment to the care and protection of children and young people by ensuring that the CARE model is consistently applied within the program, services, and practice. This position is being offered on a permanent part time or full-time basis and based in Alice Springs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and expertise in the formulation of Therapeutic Care Plans
- Ongoing implementation and review of care plans
- Prepare positive behaviour support and individual crisis management plans
- Carry out assessments of young people in LWB care
- Facilitate monthly reflective practice sessions for direct care staff
- Model and provide advice on CARE and TCI practices to staff
- Communicate with relevant stakeholders to monitor wellbeing, progress, and outcomes of Children and Young People.
- Ensure that consistent quality therapeutic care is delivered to Children and Young People in line with the CARE model.
Skills & Experience
- Postgraduate, Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, or related discipline.
- Current registration or eligibility to register with a relevant professional body
- Demonstrated experience working in a therapeutic care setting or working in a clinical environment with Children and Young People in OOHC
- Significant experience using evidence-based assessment tools with young people with trauma informed behaviour
- Demonstrated understanding and application of child development and complex trauma and its effects on children and young people in out of home care
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check, NT Working with Children Check and NT Child Protection Check
