About the business and the role

Western Australian Centre for Perinatal Mental Health and Parenting Support(sister organisation of Gosnells women’s Health Services) https://wacpps.org.au/  is seeking an enthusiastic and suitably qualifified Psychologist, Mental Health Social Worker or OT/Counsellor.

WACPPS has specialised in parenting, perinatal and infant mental health for almost 20 years, originating within Gosnells Women’s Health Services.

We believe in the value of working closely with other health professionals to provide the best possible care for our clients. Perinatal mental health impacts over 5000 women per year in Western Australia.

WA Centre for Perinatal Mental Health and Parenting Support offers in person, telephone and video counselling, groups and workshops

Two positions available. Up to 2 days a week for a therapist without Medicare and up to 4 days per week for a therapist with a Medicare provider number

Position 1 – 4 days a week – must have or be eligible for Medicare provider number

Position 2 – 2 days a week – Medicare provider number not required

Salary: $80,000 – $84,999 Pro Rata(please note, salary sacrifice is available). Plus wellness package

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supporting mental health of women and families in the perinatal period (from conception to 4 years old) with in-person, telephone and telehealth counselling.

To provide parenting counselling sessions (both individual and couples)

Providing up to 10 counselling sessions for individuals, couples and families using person centred, evidence based therapeutic models.

Counselling 

  1. Conduct initial assessment to identify presenting problems and underlying issues of concern; explain the counselling service offered; assess the client’s ability to pay; have required documents signed. 
  2. Contract with the client to define goals and tasks. 
  3. Provide counselling sessions utilising a range of appropriate counselling techniques in accordance with WACPPS policies 
  4. Participate in case conferences if required. 
  5. Ensure that at the end of the counselling process the client has appropriate plans and supports in place to cope and progress. 
  6. Provide on-site supervision for students. 
  7. Comply with professional standards for Psychology/Counselling/Social Work.  
  8. Participate in clinical supervision and professional development activities. 
  9. Facilitate groups and workshops as agreed with Management Team. 

 Information and Referral 

  1. Provide information to clients to increase their awareness and understanding of health issues. 
  2. Assist clients to access health and community services. 
  3. Maintain a network of other agencies and services for appropriate referral of clients. 
  4. Maintain contact with other service providers to facilitate a collaborative approach on service provision 
  5. Refer clients to specialist services where appropriate 
  6. Link clients in with other programs and groups offered with the Service. 

 Additional projects 

  1. At managements discretion. For example writing blog posts and content creation. 

 Reporting and Administration 

  1. Comply with service guidelines and agency timeframes. 
  2. Prepare and maintain case notes and client statistics in accordance with agency policy. 
  3. Participate in staff meetings and team activities. 

Other duties as directed by the Management Team
