Our Financial Counsellors provide financial counselling to clients and conduct thorough assessment processes that ensure that clients receive prompt and efficient service. Integrate this with state-wide telephone financial counselling service (Moneycare).
The Role
We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Trainee Financial Counsellor, reporting to the Regional Manager. You will provide holistic financial counselling and advocacy service to people in financial difficulty or crisis.
This is a fixed-term, part-time position, 22.5 hours per week until 30 June 2023, located in Greater Sydney. Please note these is possibility for extension.
You will successfully
- Provide a holistic financial counselling and advocacy service to people in difficulty or crisis
- Conduct group community education (financial literacy/capability) sessions\
- Consider peoples unique circumstances, financial history and behaviours to optimise their service
- Regularly review and manage client caseloads
- Provide high-level communication through telephone calls, emails and face to face
- Maintain client records on our SAMIS Moneycare case management systems
The Salvation Army is subject to public health orders. You may be required to provide evidence of vaccine status dependent on requirements.
You will have
- 12+months experience in a relevant field
- Accreditation as a Financial Counsellor or be willing to attain accreditation as soon as possible.
- Diploma of Community Services (Financial Counselling) or be willing to undertake study from the outset
- Degree qualifications or extensive experience in the fields of welfare, finance, community services, psychology or business fields
- High level interpersonal, active listening and analytical skills
- The ability to work with people suffering difficulties and crisis
- Willingness to travel on occasion for training and development
- The ability to work within a counselling framework is highly regarded
- A valid NSW Working with Children check
- A willingness to undergo a National Police check
