We’re looking for someone who wants to make the world a little better through small moments that leave big impacts. To build meaningful relationships and make a difference in the lives of others.

An integral part of our Lifeline Crisis Support and Suicide Prevention Services team as a Trainer, you’ll be encouraged to grow, develop and feel empowered to make the everyday easier for the people we care so passionately about.

Let’s make a meaningful difference, together.

Your part in our Lifeline team

The Lifeline QLD Crisis Support and Suicide Prevention team, part of UnitingCare Family and Disability Services, is planning for growth! Lifeline is a trusted national charity that has been saving lives for 60 years. The national 13 11 14 Crisis Support service, Human Assisted Digital Crisis Support services (text and chat) and 13YARN Crisis Support Service offer support to people in crisis and emotional distress. There is an ever-increasing demand for support through these channels and Lifeline QLD needs a strong focus on training, support and retention of Crisis Supporters (some paid staff and the majority volunteer), to be able to meet demand.

Put your training skills and experience to use to support Australians in crisis. Join our Lifeline Crisis Support and Suicide Prevention team in QLD, part of UnitingCare Family and Disability Services in this part time (22.8hrs a week) Trainer role. The role is offered initially on a 12 month max. term basis, and can operate primarily remotely, subject to some travel to our 10 centres through QLD on occasions.

As the post holder, you will report to the Crisis Support Training Co-ordination and Quality Lead and be responsible for delivering training outcomes that meet Lifeline Queensland’s state-wide needs, and that comply with Lifeline Australia’s RTO requirements. You will deliver (predominantly online) the initial Crisis Supporter Workplace Training (CSWT) to our volunteers and assess competency. You will also train and develop a team of volunteer student mentors to support CSWT. Your support may also be required to ensure all Crisis Supporters are re-accredited annually to a national standard.

What makes a difference for us?

The successful candidate will have a strong background in delivery of accredited training and have demonstrated experience working within a Crisis Support and Suicide Prevention service. Recent Lifeline Crisis Support and Training experience will be highly regarded.

Supplementing this you will present with the following:

  • Demonstrated competency in training and development, in particular in:
  • achieving quality outcomes with skills-based training, and
  • delivering online training via Zoom or Teams.
  • Demonstrated competency in crisis support, preferably as an accredited Lifeline Crisis Supporter.
  • Demonstrated ability to work constructively and supportively with volunteers
  • A high level of computer literacy and experience in using Microsoft Office and online platforms such as Zoom or Teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a small team and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including capacity to give and receive constructive feedback and to respond reflectively.
  • Well-developed organisational and co-ordination skills
  • A current blue card (or be willing to obtain)
  • An open QLD drivers licence
  • Willingness to undergo a personal history check
  • Ability to work within the beliefs, mission, values and policies of UnitingCare Community and adhere to the provisions of the Workplace Health and Safety and other relevant Legislation as they apply to the region’s services.

What makes a difference for you?
