VictimConnect is a 24/7 service that supports people who have been impacted by a violent crime in Queensland. VictimConnect provides information, advice, referral, specialist counselling, as well as case management (through a partnership with Save the Children) to people who have been impacted by violent crime.

About the Role
The role of the Triage Counsellor is to provide immediate response to VictimConnect callers seeking support from the service by establishing caller safety, building rapport, and identifying best pathways for support either internally or externally.
We are currently looking to fill shifts across our 24/7 roster which includes on call. Our core shifts are 6:30am-2:30pm, 2:30pm-10:30pm and 10:30pm-6:30am (on call).
At times, the role may be required to answer and respond to calls across DVConnect’s other crisis lines which includes Womensline, Mensline and the Sexual Assault Helpline.
What we’re looking for
- A tertiary degree (of minimum 3 years duration) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or relevant field.
- 2+ years relevant experience
- Demonstrated understanding of intersectional feminist practice and how this is used as a framework to understand and respond to the gendered nature of violence against women and children
- Solid IT skills to work across phone and on-line chat platforms.
- Ability to work across a 24/7 roster, including participating in a rotating on call roster
- High level of resilience and self-care practices in place to support working in an environment that can be challenging and demanding at times.
