About the role – Full-time max term contract until 30 June 2024
Tumbelin Farm is an intensive residential adventure therapy program for 16–21-year-olds whose use of alcohol and other drugs (AOD) is having a negative impact on their life and are seeking to make a change. It is an early intervention program working within an adventure therapy framework to overcome their challenges with drug and alcohol use.
The Program Lead plays a key role in coordinating the day-to-day service delivery of youth residential Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) rehabilitation program. You will work with participants to help them connect with themselves, others, God and the natural world through outdoor experiences. This is a truly unique role where you will be situated on the farm (10 minutes outside of Mt Barker) working alongside a multi-disciplinary team, including a counsellor, case manager, Adventure Therapy Practitioners and the Farm Supervisor.
Your duties include but not limited to:
- Coordinate the effective day-to-day delivery of the Tumbelin Farm adventure therapy residential AOD rehabilitation program, under the direction of the Tumbelin Manager
- Under the direction of the manager, develop the weekly program schedule and roster staff accordingly
- Provide line management oversight to the Case Manager around the program
- Manage the client intake and assessment process, including receiving inquiries, processing applications, determining risk assessments and coordinating withdrawal for clients
- Coordinate the Alumni program, developing a self-supporting community of past clients with lived experience
- Champion the implementation of Baptist Care SA’s Tapa marnirni-apinthi Practice Framework, fostering a strong culture of reflection on practice amongst the team
About you:
You are a natural leader who inspires those around you to foster positive relationships with their colleagues, clients and external stakeholders. Working in a nature-based setting inspires you to build strong connections with residents not only in group or individual supervision but with their day-to-day activity which encompasses farm life, home life, adventure life and learning life. You are someone who has a deep understanding of the complex needs and behaviours that our clients have, including the comorbid nature of AOD addiction, mental health and trauma.
You will also have the following skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience
- A strong track record (3+ years) of delivering effective therapeutic programs with clients recovering from drug and alcohol misuse and harm
- A comprehensive knowledge of experiential learning principles and their application in a client’s journey of change
- Demonstrated experience or a well-developed understanding of working within a Restorative Practice framework
- Contemporary knowledge of theories of change and their application/s to supporting young people to make meaningful change in their own lives
Specific Requirements:

- Full unrestricted South Australia Driver’s Licence
- DHS Child-Related Employment Screening or Working With Children check
- National Police Clearance
- A current Apply First Aid certificate
- Training: Secure Environments for Children and Young People (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to work outside of normal office hours may be required
- Use of own vehicle
