Job Description

Tasks could include:

  • Managing a specialised caseload of veteran clients, supporting them on their return to wellbeing journey, this includes via in-person servicing and teleconference.
  • Supporting veteran clients and their families to return to work following service-related injuries and illnesses, as medically appropriate for the veteran
  • Supporting veteran clients and their families to re-engage with community activities
  • Supporting veteran clients and their families to engage in civilian medical treatment and develop an understanding of how to access treatment with support from government entities
  • Assisting veteran clients who may be experiencing a crisis or need mental health support. The provision of care is veteran-centred and trauma informed 
  • Attending case conferences to support veteran clients
  • Supporting veteran partners to engage in job seeking activities and obtain employment
  • Working with people with complex psychological and physical diagnoses and supporting them as they return to their usual activities
  • Undertaking a variety of assessments to support veterans engage in services
  • Working with a variety of stakeholders such as veterans, veteran families, government departments, RSL Employment Program, Open Arms Veterans and Families Counselling, various Ex-Service Organisations (ESOs), community programs, Invictus Australia, NDIS and treating health practitioners – to ensure our veteran clients are supported and connected
  • Providing psychoeducation and training to clients and employers using our award-winning biopsychosocial health coaching tool, Positivum and healthy mind training packages
  • Working in a multi-disciplinary team to support mentoring, knowledge and growth
  • Utilisation of various case management systems and an internal intranet page. Use of external portals to keep up to date with important information
  • Some travel may be required in order to meet with clients at alternative locations

Qualifications

Our new team member will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy, Exercise Physiology, Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, Nursing (Mental Health Accredited), Social Work, Rehabilitation counselling or Psychology
  • Eligibility for registration with either AHPRA, ESSA, AASW, ASORC, RCAA,
  • Strong emotional intelligence and a genuine passion for holistically working with veteran clients and their families to support their journey of recovery and return to wellbeing
  • Good time management and organisational skills, strong attention to detail and complex problem-solving abilities
  • A current driver licence and access to their own vehicle

  • An opportunity to be part of the Veteran Advisory Board, an internal board made up of veterans and ex-serving members and family of veterans, or people with close connections to the veteran community to ensure our services remain veteran-centric and reflective of the needs of the community;
