About the Role
We are currently seeking applications for a Domestic and Family Violence Worker to work across two RAQ venues. This position will comprise of a Victim’s Advocate role located at our Spring Hill venue for 22.5 hrs a fortnight and a Domestic and Family Violence Support Worker located at our Upper Mount Gravatt venue for 30 hrs a fortnight. The role is on a permanent part time basis working 52.5 hours per fortnight.
The purpose of this position is to provide specialised domestic and family violence crisis counselling and advocacy, safety planning and risk mitigation and support to those who have been impacted by domestic and family violence.
The key responsibilities of this position include:
- Apply theoretical knowledge of domestic and family violence, advocacy, specifically social justice, social constructionist and feminist perspectives, and other relevant models to determine appropriate interventions for individuals’ safety planning
- When working with individuals, conduct thorough a client assessment to identify all forms of intrafamilial violence, risks mitigation and vulnerabilities, and respond to identified safety risks through the creation of collaborative safety plans with the client.
- Provide individuals affected by domestic and family violence with information on all available options, assist them with their chosen option and advocate on their behalf where requested.
- Network to develop collaborative relationships with relevant government organisations and community agencies to build community capacity, to successfully link children, young people, and adults to other support services
Work days/hours will be negotiated with the successful applicant, however please note that the position holder will be required to work an evening shift (12pm to 8pm) up to once a week, with some flexibility needed in order to meet business requirements.
This position will sit across two different position descriptions at two different locations.
The salary being offered is $80,963.63 to $94,619.10 per annum, pro rata, to be negotiated depending upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation.
About You
The successful applicant will possess.
- Appropriate undergraduate qualifications in the social or behavioural sciences.
- Have demonstrated experience, and theoretical knowledge of domestic and family violence and the impacts on families.
- Capacity to provide crisis counselling and advocacy in a variety of settings.
- Knowledge of and be able to apply relevant legislation and regulations, specifically the Domestic and Family Violence Act, and or
- Have ability to rapidly acquire, a sound understanding of the Family Law Act.
