JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Fulham Correctional Centre

Role Type: Part Time Fixed Term (0.7 FTE 24 months) – Required Days: Negotiable

 

About The Role:

Reporting to the Lead Educator Corrections, the Vocational Counsellor will provide counselling services to students in relation to their career and vocational objectives. You will essentially help them achieve their goals by working with them and responding to their queries.

As a Vocational Counsellor, you will be exercising your interpersonal and communications skills to bring about engagement with students. You must have the ability to work independently as well as a team environment to perform the role.

  • It is mandatory that the preferred candidate is eligible to be a member of Careers Education Association of Victoria (CEAV) at minimum of Associate level or is prepared to enrol and complete a course of study that will enable membership.
  • A strong understanding of student learning pathways and the education system
  • Ability to be culturally competent
  • Experience working in custodial settings
  • A sound working knowledge and capability strategies to address learning issues that students may encounter such as potentially past negative education experiences

Things we will require from you:

  • Working with Children Check (WWCC) A candidate must have an approved employee WWCC prior to being able to start work at Kangan Institute / Bendigo TAFE
  • Current Police Check
  • Certified Right to Work document – Passport/Visa/Citizenship or Birth Certificate
  • Certified vocational qualifications and certified transcripts (as listed in Resume and relevant to the position)
  • COVID-19 vaccination certificate or a valid medical exemption
