About Marymead

Marymead is a well-respected, community based, not-for-profit organisation that has provided a range of support services to children, young people and their families since 1967. Marymead now operates throughout the southern and western regional areas of NSW as well as the ACT with offices in Goulburn, Wagga Wagga, Young, Moruya and Canberra. Marymead is seeking to fill the position outlined below within our Mental Health and Wellbeing Unit.

About the Wellbeing Counsellor positions

This is a casual position involving the delivery of counselling services. This position provides opportunity to work flexibly across programs as needed within the Mental Health and Wellbeing Unit. As a Wellbeing Counsellor, you will provide individual, family or relationship counselling as required by the client(s). The Wellbeing Counsellor may also facilitate group work, case planning, advocacy, mediation, conduct risk assessments and referral to other relevant services according to program objectives. You will be primarily based at Marymead’s Narrabundah site as part of the Emotional Wellbeing team and may provide outreach to other locations in ACT or NSW as required.

Qualifications, certifications and security clearances

Essential

  • Tertiary qualification in psychology, counselling or related fields
  • Current registration with at least one of the following professional associations: Australian Psychological Society (APS), Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) or Australian Counselling Association (ACA).
  • Working With Vulnerable People Clearance (ACT/NSW as required)
  • Police Check
  • Driver’s Licence
  • Ability to work with children

Desirable

  • Current registration for Private Healthcare rebate (or willingness to become registered)
  • Family counselling qualification and/or specialised training
  • Demonstrated experience providing counselling and support to clients under the NDIS scheme
  • Child Inclusive Practice training
