The role

As our new Wellbeing Officer, you will work with a team of safety specialists to enhance the physical, mental, and emotional health of our staff, collaborating with teams from across the organisation to develop and implement programs, initiatives, and resources that foster wellbeing and resilience.

  • Assessment and Support: Conduct wellbeing assessments, identify areas of concern, and develop response programs.
  • Program Development: Design and deliver wellbeing programs, workshops, and events.
  • Mental Health Advocacy: Promote mental health awareness, reduce stigma, and connect individuals with appropriate resources.
  • Return to Work: Assist workers back into the workplace by supporting appropriate work placements aligned to worker capabilities.
  • Workers Compensation: Liaise with Workers Compensation and Return to Work staff and Council’s insurer to manage and progress claims.
  • Health Promotion: Encourage healthy lifestyle choices through education and awareness campaigns.
  • Crisis Intervention: Respond to critical incidents and provide immediate support.
  • Collaboration: Build effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including HR, management, and other relevant departments.
  • Data Collection: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of wellbeing initiatives.

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human or Health Services, or Work Health & Safety, coupled with demonstrated experience working in a related field.
  • Experience in wellbeing, mental health, or related roles.
  • Experience in return to work coordination advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy, compassion, confidentiality and a non-judgmental approach.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices.

Salary: Base salary $80,600 p.a. plus superannuation. (commencing salary will be negotiated with the successful candidate depending on qualifications, skills and experience)

Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
