About the role
Our Service Delivery Team are on the front line, supporting the needs of our ex-service personnel and their families. As part of our holistic approach, the Wellbeing role focuses on providing support through partnering Veterans with experienced practitioners and suitable programs that will benefit their overall physical and mental wellbeing. You will be an active and present participant in the Veteran Wellbeing community by promoting our services and partnering with our referral network and service providers. 

This role is a permanent, full-time position to be based in our Townsville office. 

Requirements of the role include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Prepares client support plans and case-manages clients within a veteran-centred and outcomes-based approach to wellbeing.
  • Undertakes assessments and prepares documentation related to the Veteran Homelessness and Financial Hardship programs.
  • Where applicable, supports the Senior Wellbeing Officer and/or Team Leaders with the complex case management of veterans and/or their families.
  • Identifies program opportunities that assist in the development and implementation of effective Wellbeing Services.
  • Accepts referrals from the VSO network in accordance with set processes.
  • Where applicable to the Wellbeing role, conducts home and hospital visits to veterans to ensure they receive support in accessing, obtaining and maintaining Wellbeing services.
  • Liaises with and develops mutually supportive professional relationships within RSL Queensland and external stakeholders such as The Salvation Army, Open Arms, DVA, other ex-service organisations and health care providers.

  
About you
Our ideal candidate is client focused with effective communication and interpersonal skills who can work in highly sensitive environments and situations. To be considered for this position, you will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • A Degree in Humanities/Arts (Social Welfare) OR Health Sciences OR Social Science OR relevant discipline OR 3-5 years’ experience in a relevant position.
  • Extensive knowledge and suitable experience in Strength-based Case Management.
  • Willingness to undertake training in the Wellbeing Advocacy Program.
  • Ability to show empathy and work in highly sensitive environments and situations.
  • Sound understanding of the ADF environment and its unique sensitivities (desirable).
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the veteran community (desirable).
  • Proven ability to understand and interpret complex legislation and compile in-depth research. 
  • Ability to build and maintain good relationships both internally and externally to RSL Queensland.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills in working directly with veterans and their families.
  • High level written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn internal IT applications.
  • C Class driver’s licence.
