Wellbeing Team Leader Professional [Psychologist]. Kempsey Adventist School 

 

Role Description:  

Kempsey Adventist School (KAS) is seeking applications interest from a qualified psychologist to perform the role of Wellbeing Team leader (Pre k to 12). This is a full-time position commencing January 2023. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Lead the wellbeing team to provide timely and proactive support for students 

Provide strategic direction for the wellbeing team for the benefit of the school  

Be available to work with relevant staff including the Principal during critical incidents 

Maintain accurate and up to date data and confidential records  

Take all practical measures to protect students where a risk to their safety has been identified  

 

Essential Criteria 

Degree qualification in Psychology. 

Current NSW Working With Children Check Clearance. 

Demonstrated an understanding of the mental health needs of children and young people, and a willingness to work with at-risk young people who may have experienced trauma.       

Registration or eligibility for registration with PACFA, APS, AASW, ACA, or equivalent. 

Experience and skills in conducting Psychoeducational Assessments. 

Capacity to deliver professional learning to staff and wellbeing programs to students and parents. 

Willingness to run individual and group sessions and support within a school context. 

Demonstrated awareness of, and capacity to manage the legal, ethical and organisational requirements of a counselling role within an educational setting. 

Understanding of and capacity to enact child protection legislation requirements and guidelines as they apply to schools. 

Knowledge and understanding of working with both Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) and non-ATSI students. 

Positive communication and interpersonal relationship skills with students, parents/carers, the broader school community and colleagues.   

Experience and/or capacity to lead and work collaboratively with a team and with local support services. 

Ability to self-regulate whilst working with young people who are dysregulated
