Ngwala Willumbong Aboriginal Corporation is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation that is dedicated to delivering quality specialist Alcohol and Drug Treatment, Housing and Homeless and other services to meet the needs of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander People and their families. Our services operate across Victoria.

 

About the Job 

The Residential Rehabilitation Centre Manager will have a major role in the day to day operations of the centre and support program development for the purposes of enhancing culturally appropriate AOD recovery programs. They will ensure the following is delivered to all staff and clients:

  • A safe and supportive environment
  • Sound and sustainable systems of administration, data collection and reporting
  • Positive outcomes for clients through quality case management and relevant individual plans
  • Establishment and maintenance of culturally appropriate program activities
  • Working with others at Ngwala to provide an environment of positive change for Aboriginal people to reach their full potential

Client Management

To treat and support clients with alcohol and drug related issues, including but not limited to:

  • Assist with the client intake process using the Comprehensive Assessment Tool (CAT)
  • Ensure the daily care and activities of clients are carried out as per the roster
  • Advocate on behalf of clients where appropriate (this may include attending court, etc.)
  • Sign off on individual treatment plans (ITPs), care and exit plans
  • Review client ITPs and support clients and staff to achieve set goals
  • Review client files weekly
  • Oversee that webster packs and medication is provided to clients as required
  • Oversee the ordering, collecting, checking and recording of webster packs and scripts (ensure copies are placed in files)

House Management

  • Ensure each resident is accommodated in a comfortable environment which is in good working order which meets QIP, Rooming House Standards
  • Supervise and monitor daily activities of the centre
  • Ensure all client appointments and program attendance are recorded and kept
  • Conduct monthly meetings
  • Prepare rosters for the centre staff (includes when the manager/assistant manager are alternating On-Call duties)
  • Conduct internal audits of client files
  • Ensure resources are effectively used
  • Facilitate the processing of paperwork and client applications

Staff & Program Management

  • Monitor and maintain program goals, compliance and ensuring required standards are met
  • Identify areas that require improvement through observation, audits, incidents and staff feedback, and implement changes 
  • Motivate, support and co-ordinate staff to accomplish set goals
  • Provide regular supervision, coaching and instructions to staff on work processes and file maintenance
  • Investigate complaints and incidents promptly and implement changes to prevent reoccurrence of similar incidents
  • Ensure all registers are maintained accurately
  • Conduct performance appraisals and regular staff supervision
  • Participate in staff recruitment processes 
  • Conduct staff inductions ensure staff receive all necessary information

Your Skills and Experience

  • Minimum Diploma AOD, Community/Social Services or post graduate qualifications in leadership or therapeutic practice preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and commitment to the Aboriginal community
  • A demonstrated understanding of the issues associated with alcohol and drugs and their effects on the Aboriginal Community 
  • Experience in working at management level, managing teams in an operational setting 
  • Demonstrated skills in case management
  • Good organisation and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi skilled team
  • Willingness and ability to work within and contribute to the vision, purpose and inclusive spiritual approach of the organisation
  • Able to develop positive relationships with clients and work within a stressful environment
  • Demonstrated leadership quality and experience in maintaining quality processes
  • Ability to implement, lead and support change
