Domestic and Family Violence Services (DFVS) is the specialist domestic violence service for the Brisbane metropolitan region.
DFVS is funded by the Department of Child Safety Youth and Women to provide free and confidential services to adults and children who have been impacted by domestic and family violence.
As a Women’s Advocate you will work as part of the DVFS Men’s Programs to support the female partners or ex-partners of those men currently attending the Men’s Domestic Violence Offender Program and Men’s Domestic Violence Education Program to live free from violence and to assist with the emotional and practical needs and issues arising from their experience.
This is a permanent full-time employment opportunity and is classified under the SCHADS Award Level 5.
We are seeking candidates with the following skills & experience:
- Demonstrated experience in working with people in a both a crisis response and planned support/case management approach and knowledge of and ability to apply current theory and practice relating to domestic and family violence.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and prioritise risk and subsequently respond to safety concerns for clients accordingly.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in collaborative teamwork, systems navigation, and local community resources as it relates to a Coordinated Community Response to domestic violence.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and people with a culturally and linguistically diverse background.
- Knowledge of or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, specifically The Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012, and other relevant legislation.
- Relevant experience and appropriate qualification including certificate, diploma and tertiary qualification according to level of responsibility.
- Demonstrated knowledge and use of IT systems including personal information and case management systems, data collection, word, email.
