The Centre for Women & Co. exists to deliver responsive, high quality and holistic women services to the Logan and Redland Regions, encompassing domestic and family violence support services and women’s health and wellbeing support services

The Role 

Women’s Health Counselling at The Centre for Women & Co. utilises trauma-informed practice and is delivered using a strengths-based women-centred approach, including other holistic therapeutic approaches.  The primary role of the Counsellor is to provide short and long term high quality therapeutic counselling, group work and health promotion activities for women.  The Centre for Women & Co. provides direct service delivery to women in a space that is non-discriminatory, accessible and affordable 

This multifaceted role is vital to the effective delivery of women services in our organisation and is instrumental in establishing strong partnerships, delivery of services and practices that deliver positive outcomes for service users and the broader community, in line with our strategic plan and feminist philosophy. 

You will work collaboratively with team member members and other agencies and organisations to develop appropriate and innovative counselling practices within the Logan and/or Redlands Community. 

About You 

You will possess an exceptional understanding and firm base of trauma-informed practice using a strength based women centred approach, including holistic therapeutic approaches.  

You will be confident, collaborative and intrinsically motivated who is able to effectively work in the Logan City region. You will have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to communicate with a broad range of people.  

You will provide information, advice, referral, specialist counselling and support to women within the Logan community. This support must be delivered through a case management approach on an individual and/or group basis. You will possess highly acute administration and time management skills necessary to maintain clear, concise, accurate client case notes and record keeping.     

Selection Criteria – (please address each in your application) 

Qualifications and experience (mandatory):   

  1. Tertiary qualifications in Counselling, Behavioural Science, Social Science, Social Work or Psychology from a recognised university, with eligibility for professional association membership 
  2. Deliver evidence-based counselling interventions to women aged 14 and over (5 sessions per day) 
  3. Ensure delivery of all services is psychologically and culturally safe and within the practice framework of CFW 
  4. Respond to, and implement appropriate strategies to manage risk 
  5. Participate in team debrief and reflective practice sessions 
  6. Deliver psychoeducation and/or therapeutic group work as required 
  7. Participate in regular internal and external supervision 
  8. Participate and incorporate continuous improvement and risk management principles as directed by the organisation 
  9. Work collaboratively with the counselling team and the broader CFW team
  10. Current Queensland Driver’s License, Current Police Check & Working with Children Check/Blue Card
