About CatholicCare NT and the Program 

CatholicCare NT is a Catholic social service agency established in the Diocese of Darwin. We provide services throughout the NT, including service centres in Darwin, Palmerston, Malak, Tiwi Islands, Daly River, Wadeye, Jabiru, Maningrida, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs, Santa Teresa, Titjikala, Finke and APY lands.

The Men’s Behaviour Change Program (MBCP) supports men to develop and maintain respectful attitudes and behaviours within their family and intimate partner relationships. The program is delivered in a group setting with individual case management where participants are provided with education, support, strategies and referrals to other services. The MBCP has an outreach component providing social support and referrals for men to facilitate engagement in the program and direct support to partners and ex-partners (including their children).

 

About the role

The Women’s Safety Worker is responsible for providing safety and support services to meet the immediate needs of women whose partner/s or ex-partners are participants in the Darwin-based MBCP for the program to meet its objectives. This position has a particular focus on providing case management, support, referral and information and includes supporting children as victims in their own right through the (ex) partners.

 

What we are looking for 

  • Relevant qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Welfare Studies or Men’s Family Violence with substantial experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience providing support to women impacted by domestic and family violence
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and support services to support participant’s needs
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to engage and empower others. 
  • Demonstrated cultural competency, particularly in working with Indigenous people
