Young Carer Peer Facilitator Carers NSW

JOB DESCRIPTION

Carers NSW is the peak organisation for carers in NSW. We are a not-for-profit organisation connecting and empowering carers across NSW and improving their quality of life through activities, programs, training and policy advice. We advocate for carers of all ages and circumstances.

As the Carer Gateway Service Provider (CGSP) in Region 4 NSW (Central Coast, Hunter New England and North Coast) we are currently searching for a Young Carer Peer Facilitator to join our team based in the Coffs Harbour region and with travel around the area required.

 

As the Young Carer Peer Facilitator, you will be responsible for organising and facilitating peer support groups for young carers aged 25 years and under, where young carers meet in person and/or online to share their experiences, learn from each other and develop networks to help support and connect with one another.

This is a new position and will appeal to you if you enjoy working in a supportive team and seeking a role that creates positive impact in the lives of young people.

This is a contract position until June 2024, offering 3-4 days per week.

 

Our ideal candidate should possess the following skills and attributes:

 ·        Lived experience as a carer or young carer

* Relevant qualification, minimum Certificate IV Training & Assessment, would be desirable

* Demonstrated experience in working and connecting with young people

* Strong facilitation skills, including managing diverse group needs, planning delivery and evaluation

·        Knowledge of the community care and health systems and other programs relevant to carers

·        A demonstrated commitment to providing quality service and work, with a professional approach and attitude

·        Highly developed interpersonal skills

·        Strong understanding of Mandatory reporting, child safety and privacy requirements

·        Strong computer, administration and organisational skills.

* Ability to travel across Region 4

Salary and Benefits

The Salary is around $83K + super, pro rata for part time hours. Additional benefits include salary sacrificing benefits, flexible work arrangements, a highly supportive team environment, excellent training and development opportunities and health and wellness programs.
