Young Mothers Pathways Support Coordinator – Deception Bay and Surrounding Area

 

  • Part Time opportunity | 16 hours per week | days/hours negotiable for work life balance

What does a Young Mothers Pathways Support Coordinator do?

The Young Mothers Pathways Support Coordinator works with young sole parent women and their children to provide them with the capabilities and resources needed to achieve their education and work aspirations.  The role focuses on developing employment and education pathways, working in collaboration with our Project Coordinators to provide wrap around support for the young woman and her family, to address any challenges such as secure housing, transport, education, care, mental health, and financial literacy.

 

The purpose of this role is to coordinate responsive and flexible education and employment opportunities to young women aligned to their career plan.  Working closely with our young women the role will positively influence:

 

  • Employability skills, career planning and work placement
  • Navigating education and employment system services and supports
  • Financial capability and security
  • Two generation capability building
  • Community participation

 

What are we looking for in a Young Mothers Pathways Support Coordinator?

  • Experience in creating suitable employment and education opportunities aligned to a chosen career plan
  • Experience in case managing vulnerable young people
  • Local knowledge of challenges and barriers faced by vulnerable young women and their children in the Deception Bay and surrounding area
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience working with Culturally Diverse Communities, including Aboriginal Communities
  • Understanding of the labour market & job creation and employment pathways
  • Solid understanding of legislative standards including Child Protection, Privacy, Work Health & Safety, Equal Employment Opportunity
  • Experience in implementing evidence-based models of case coordination
  • Experience working with young people individually and in groups
  • Proven ability to network in the community and sector to align support
  • Working with Children clearance prior to commencement in the role
  • A valid driver’s licence (work vehicle will be provided)

 

Highly desirable but not essential:

  • A certificate or degree in employment, social work, social science, welfare, or a related discipline
  • 3 years plus experience working in Employment, recruitment, Human Services or similar
