About the opportunity
As a competent youth and family counsellor you will advance outcomes for vulnerable youth and families, referred by Department Child Safety by conducting assessments, prepare counselling plans and provide short to long term counselling support and intervention services that are best practice and client led.
About you
- You are a qualified and respected practitioner with a heart for helping vulnerable families in our community.
- With a solid career in the child welfare and community services sectors, you have sound knowledge of therapeutic interventions and the Child Protection system.
- Achieve client-directed outcomes and advocate for clients to key stakeholders.
- Maintain case notes and client statistics in a timely manner, consistent with confidentiality and professional standards.
- Your self-awareness and your Christian values enable you to build healthy relationships that contribute to a supportive professional and community network.
Selection criteria
- Relevant Human Services degree, preferably counselling or social work.
- Demonstrated experience in case management and group work in supporting, youth, families, and carers from a child-safe, trauma-informed, family-focused perspective.
- Demonstrated ability to apply therapy in a range of counselling modalities with a client-directed, outcome-focus.
- Demonstrated commitment to a Christian Ethos.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team and actively engage with community partners and stake holders.
- Experience working with Aboriginal people, families and/or organisations is advantageous.
- Hold a current Blue Card and an unencumbered ‘C’ Class Driver’s License.
