Youth and Family Group Worker Uniting NSW & ACT

JOB DESCRIPTION

About the Opportunity 

This is a permanent part-time (28 hours/ week)  opportunity that will be based in Bourke and will involve some travel across the region. 

This role is responsible for providing a range of therapeutic and group work services to individuals, children, couples and families in and around the Bourke region and is aimed at improving health and wellbeing and an increased capacity to manage and experience relationships positively.

As the Youth and Family Group Worker, you will provide a welcoming first point of contact for young people seeking support through community outreach to schools and community services.

You will need to have an in depth understanding of mental health issues young people can experience, as well as the ability to assertively engage with vulnerable young people and their families, including those who may exhibit challenging behaviours. 

 About You

  • Minimum Cert IV qualification or willingness to work towards a qualification in Community Services or currently studying towards your qualification 
  • Hold a current provisional Drivers Licence or above
  • Demonstarted connections to the Bourke and surrounding community
  • Understanding of Child Protection issues
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team 
  • Strong communication, organisation and report writing skills
  • Proven computer skills including word processing, accessing emails and internet and the willingness to be trained in a data collection system
