Youth AOD Linkage Worker Uniting (Victoria and Tasmania) Limited

JOB DESCRIPTION

Uniting Vic.Tas together with our partners: Gippsland and East Gippsland Aboriginal Co-operative (GEGAC) are seeking a Youth AOD Program Counsellor to join our Traralgon Youth AOD Residential Rehabilitation program.

Working in a full-time capacity, you will contribute to the provision of a safe and hospitable environment and rehabilitation for young people participating in residential AOD rehabilitation.

The scope of the role includes completing intake and assessment, as well as waitlist management for the four (4) allocated Youth withdrawal beds that are located at Traralgon and Coburg as well as the waitlist.

You will also facilitate transport for young people to get to or from these locations as well as provide pre-admission counselling, making sure the young people are treatment ready for residential rehabilitation and completing referrals to other services if rehabilitation is not appropriate.

About you

To be successful in the role, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant health and or welfare Tertiary Qualification such as Social Work, Youth Work, Psychology, Nursing or Allied Health, Mental Health, Community Services.
  • Certificate IV in AOD or have completed the core competencies
  • Familiarity with the Alcohol and Other Drug Sector, knowledge of the relationship with the Forensic AOD System and Central Intake Services.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide safe environments for children and young people and protect them from abuse and neglect.
  • Knowledge of and experience (preferred) in developing individual treatment plans, post withdrawal and discharge planning.
  • Experience delivering group work (preferred).
  • Experience working with people with AOD and/or Mental Health issues.
