About the position

As a highly experienced and autonomous member of the multidisciplinary YSAS primary health team, the Youth AOD Practitioner provides direct AOD service activities to marginalised and at-risk young people entering Secure Care and their stakeholders.

 

Some of the Key responsibilities for this role include:

  1. Being adept at providing timely and accurate AOD assessment, crisis intervention, treatment planning, brief intervention, support, discharge co-ordination and community linkages to minimise the harm of alcohol and drug use to young persons entering Secure Care;
  2. Nurturing and growing cross-departmental collaboration between the YSAS primary health service, Department of Families, Fairness and Housing staff (DFFH) in Secure Care Services, Child Protection and other key stakeholders of young people entering Secure Care;
  3.  Provision of specialist knowledge and training to DFFH and YSAS Secure Care staff in relation to the unique AOD needs and challenges of young people in Secure Care;
  4. Continuous Improvement and reporting;
  5. Professional Conduct and Relationship Management.
