About the role?
The Youth Case Worker is a practice position working the CatholicCare’s Youth Program. It provides support to youth and their families, aged between 10 and 25 years, at risk of being entrenched in the criminal justice system. It is designed to build life skills, confidence and community connections, through a range of integrated support options: education, vocational training, employment, cultural activates, sporting and housing.
The Youth Case Worker may be required to work across our three offices (located in Toowoomba, St George and Roma) engaging with the young people and coordinating the referral networks to support their diverse needs and those of their families.
The position will be based in Toowoomba with weekend work & regional travel required.
In this varied role you will be required to:
- Undertake and provide case management and coordination of services and interventions for families and young people using case management and trauma informed frameworks;
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the significant needs and requirements of the youth populations across the region, develop programs and identify responses with the team as needed and appropriate;
- Deliver capacity-building supports to the at-risk young people to increase their knowledge, practice skills and build a sense of self, through individualised case management services, in partnership with relevant stakeholders as needed;
- Provide community-based engagement activities including court support, crisis response and outreach activities;
- Contribute to the intake processes of young people and their families when required;
- Assist in the coordination of the day-to-day operations of the activities of the youth programs in accordance with the relevant funding agreements, including ongoing risk assessment and responses with the cohort;
- Work closely with relevant partners and stakeholders to design and deliver wraparound case management and support services for young people and their families in the program;
To be appointed to this role, applicants must:
- Hold tertiary qualifications in Criminology, Community Development, Social Services or Human Services or have significant demonstrated experience in case work and experience working with young people;
- Hold a valid current driver’s licence;
- Have a current (or eligibility for) Qld Working with Children Check – ‘Blue Card’;
- Hold a current first aide certificate or be willing to obtain;
- If applicable, have evidence of Australian Work Rights to confirm citizenship or a visa holder.
