THE TEAM
Our Samaritans Youth Complex Team works closely with our headspace team who are a multidisciplinary team of professionals providing support to young people in the Hunter region. Our team are high energy, hardworking and innovative and we are united by our passionate pursuit of best practice!

THE ROLE
Our Mental Health Clinician plays an integral role in our Rural Young Minds program, providing clinical therapeutic interventions and case coordination services to young people between the ages of 12-25 with, or at risk of developing, severe mental illness.
The role supports integrated access to primary health care, specialist mental health care, family support, educational/vocational engagement and psychological therapies within the identified local areas, in line with the national framework for recovery-oriented mental health service principles.
Success Factors:
- Degree qualification Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Nursing, Occupational Therapy or similar.
- Demonstrated experience delivering therapeutic intervention/counselling
- Demonstrated experience managing clients with complex mental health needs.
- Desire to work collaboratively with our team and other service providers.
- Current driver’s license.
- Current Working with Children Check, NDISWC, COVID vaccination evidence and First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to effectively engage with young people, families and carers who are at risk of developing severe mental health issues.
- Advanced relationship building skills, able to develop networks with a range of government, community and corporate stakeholders to facilitate clear referral pathways.
- Comprehensive understanding of mental health issues affecting young people, their families and carers including best treatment options.
