JOB DESCRIPTION

We are currently recruiting for a Youth Engagement Officer to work for an excellent not for profit organisation in the Eastern Suburbs. This role would work in particular with youth and young people. In this role you will provide outreach work to engage with and identify and assist at risk young people aged 12-25 years and or their families. These young people may be experiencing a range of challenges including substance misuse, homelessness, mental health concerns or barriers to education and this role would involve supporting them in in relation to health, housing, employment and education.

  • Full Time role (initially a 1 year contract, with the view to extend)
  • Based out of the Bondi Beach area, covering the Eastern Suburbs
  • Salary between $74-84k plus super
  • Salary Packaging available

About the organisation:
  
This organisation have been supporting people living in the Eastern Suburbs for well over 30 years. They run a number of different programs, aimed at supporting those who are vulnerable or require extra support and assistance.
  
Duties:

  • Provide outreach services to engage with young people to understand their needs and assist them in accessing services
  • Conduct intake assessments and provide ongoing case management to assist them to address the issues they are facing
  • Provide counselling, help them to access services and resources and work closely with other stakeholders
  • Help young people forge stronger relationships with family and support services
  • Community engagement work, including putting on events and running programs
  • Liaise closely with other service providers and organisations in the area
  • Run workshops and forums as required

Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work or related field
  • Driver’s License
  • Previous experience working with youth and young people
  • Ideally be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident. People on longer term visa’s may also be considered.
