The Role

The Youth Facilitator is responsible for assisting and supporting the local Diocese and State Youth Department to deliver youth programs and promote youth involvement in the Society in accordance with the Society policies, procedures and philosophy.

Under the supervision of the Youth Engagement and Development Coordinator, the role is proactive in achieving the youth objectives of the Diocesan and State Strategic plans by:

  • Assisting in the implementation and administration of youth programs (sports programs, activity days, and camps) that engage young volunteers and create a safe environment for children and young people (aged 8-17) where social connection and resilience can be fostered.
  • Supporting youth program volunteer members and promoting pathways to Society membership
  • Developing and facilitating school engagement opportunities and workshops that connect school communities to the mission of the Society

A key focus of this role will be to increase schools’ engagement and pathways for growth for Brisbane Youth.

This is a permanent – full time position (38 hours per week) role based in Spring Hill.

To be successful in the role, you will meet the following criteria:

  • Relevant Tertiary or TAFE Qualification or equivalent education, ministry, community work or related areas and/or experience in similar position
  • Proficient in MS Office programs
  • Ability in working within boundaries and well-developed task management skills
  • Demonstrates a high degree of motivation, initiative and creativity
  • Contribute positively within a team environment
  • Demonstrate a friendly, positive attitude, with a willingness to learn
  • Effective communication and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality
  • Demonstrate genuine respect for all people regardless of their situation
  • Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of the St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland and an ability to work in accordance with policies and procedures to promote the values and mission of the Society
  • A COVID-19 vaccination certificate is required
  • A valid Blue Card is required
