About CatholicCare NT and the Program 

CatholicCare NT is a not-for-profit organisation, providing social services and programs to individuals, couples, families, children, groups, schools and agencies across the Northern Territory. CatholicCare NT also delivers innovative youth programs focusing on social and emotional wellbeing, alcohol and drug use and mental health. 

 

The aim of the Youth Enhanced Services (YES) Program is to provide culturally appropriate, evidence based psychological interventions for people with ‘severe’ mental illness. The YES program is designed to increase service access to support the chances of recovery and longer term social and emotional health and wellbeing. 

 

About the role

The Youth Mental Health Clinician is responsible for providing specialist mental health assessment, therapeutic interventions, clinical review and case presentations in order for the program to meet its objectives. The position utilises skills and knowledge to work with participants, their families and carers to develop recovery goals, and care plans within a set timeframe; all whilst ensuring a high standard of counselling, group work, case work and outreach support. There is also a strong emphasis on family engagement and community education.

 

What we are looking for 

  • Relevant Degree or Diploma with experience in Mental Health, Community Services, Youth Work or Counselling 
  • Proven clinical skills in the provision of mental health care to young people, including mental health assessments, therapeutic interventions and care plan development. 
  • Working knowledge of the common social and mental health issues faced by young people 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to build working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, report and case note writing 
  • Demonstrated cultural competency, particularly in working with Indigenous people
