- This position will work across our headspace Dandenong and headspace Narre Warren offices + outreach as required.
- $36 – $39 per hour + super + Salary Packaging benefits of up to $18,550
ABOUT US
The BounceBack program assists young people aged 12-25 who present with chronic, longstanding, or complicated/co-occurring mental health difficulties and provides them with up to 12 months of community-driven support.
ABOUT YOU
As Peer Worker, you will be an integral member of the team and draw upon your own lived experience of mental health challenges and recovery journey to provide support and assistance to individuals experiencing complex issues and instil confidence and hope about the journey of recovery.
Duties include:
- Working collaboratively with the BounceBack team to promote an approach to care that is sensitive and responsive to the needs and views of young people.
- Supporting and advocating for young people to engage successfully in meaningful day to day activities that encourages recovery and independence.
- Learning about the young person’s interests, and connections with family and friends, and work with them to build their capacity to be part of their community.
- Maintaining client records and information through inputting of all data including case notes.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a passionate young person with an ability and willingness to share own experiences of recovery with others for the benefit of advancing their recovery. Your ability to collaborate effectively with clients, families, colleagues and stakeholders will be essential to the success of this role.
Ideally you will have:
- Lived experience of mental illness and demonstrated experience of recovery (essential).
- Experience of navigating the public or private mental health system.
- Computer literacy in Windows, Word, Email, and data-base applications.
- The ability to produce new ideas, approaches or insights in working with young people.
- Knowledge and understanding of mental illness and the impact that it can have on social, family, recreational, education/training, vocation and day to day needs of the individual.
- Current state-based driver’s license (essential).
Highly regarded Qualifications and/or Certifications:
- Demonstrated experience working in peer work or similar role.
- Cert IV in Mental Health or other similar qualification.
