JOB DESCRIPTION

Marathon Health is a not-for-profit, registered charity with a vision of enabling communities to thrive through improved health and wellbeing. 

We are looking for a Youth Peer Worker to join our headspace team in Lithgow, NSW. The vacancy is Full Time, 75 hours per fortnight and will be ongoing.

The Youth Peer Worker role:

  • Works directly with young people and their carers to enhance service engagement and experience
  • Collaborates with other staff and stakeholders to identify needs and deliver appropriate supports
  • Utilises a ‘lived experience’ perspective to support young people on their personal recovery journey

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Islander
  • An ability to apply a lived experience lens to service delivery
  • A demonstrated understanding of mental health systems and recovery-orientated practice models
  • Passion and ability to positively promote mental health recovery
  • The ability to navigate computer applications including Microsoft Office programs
  • A willingness to engage in further education and training related to the provision of peer support
