Your new job

The Youth Peer worker will deliver peer support to young people, primarily through remote means such as telephone or videoconferencing. You are committed and passionate young person who has personal and lived experience of mental health challenges and / or mental health service use.
  
Reporting to the Youth Partnerships in Research Coordinator, you will:

  • Contribute to design and implementation of the peer support intervention.
  • Coordinate and deliver the peer support intervention to young people from headspace services enrolled in the research project.
  • Support the project team, including assisting with facilitation of meetings and activities.
  • Work with young people in a non-clinical way that values the shared experiences of a peer.

What you’ll need

You are passionate, energetic and determined to make a difference to health and wellbeing outcomes for young people. The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:

  • Aged between 18 and 30 years for the duration of their employment term.
  • Personal lived experience of mental health challenges and/or mental health service use.
  • Experience or knowledge of peer support in a mental health context.
  • Capacity to problem solve effectively, engage and work creatively with young people.

This is a part time (0.4 – 0.8 FTE) position for 12 months.
