About the role

As a Youth Worker, Case Management you will provide a high-quality strengths-based case management and detached youth work services to young people accessing Street Connect. You will make connections with marginalised and disconnected young people who gather regularly in public places with the aim of engaging them in positive life changes through intensive case management and crisis interventions.  You will engage in detached youth work and assertive outreach throughout the wider Perth metropolitan area and Perth CBD providing information, support, advocacy and informal counselling.

About the role

Street Connect is a detached youth work and case management program delivered across the Perth metropolitan area supporting at-risk young people. To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Diploma level qualification in relevant Human Services discipline, combined with significant skills and experience in youth work and / or people experiencing homelessness
  • Ability to engage and build strong relationships with and motivate ‘at risk’ young people
  • Case management experience and assessment skills
  • Experience providing an outreach service to “at risk” youth
  • Ability to assist young people to develop independent living skills
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Up to date knowledge of resources in the youth services field, including education, training and employment
  • An understanding of the current barriers and difficulties facing “at risk” young people
  • Demonstrated behaviour management, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, advocacy and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work in a team setting

This is a full time, permanent opportunity. The operating hours of program are between 8 am and 8 pm Monday to Friday. 

You must possess a current National Police Clearance valid within one year, a WA Working with Children Check, a Senior First Aid certificate, WA Drivers Licence with a willingness to obtain a LR bus licence.

 

Benefits

  • $80,963 – $83,086 per annum + 11% superannuation
