About Program
The Anglicare Southern Queensland (SQ) Children Youth and Families (CYF) Intensive Foster Care and High Plus programs provide therapeutic supports for young people and carers in foster and kinship care arrangements that are under stress, at risk of breakdown or requiring support to deal with the complexity of need presented by the young person being cared for. The Intensive Foster Care Program provides the following activities:
- Carer education and training
- Behaviour management and placement support
- In home support
- Practical and financial assistance
- Youth worker support
- Systemic connection with therapeutic and allied health services.
About the Role
The overall purpose of the Youth Worker, Intensive Foster Care and High Programs Plus is to provide care and/or support to children and young people, in foster or kinship care. The care and support provided by Youth Workers will enhance opportunities for the young person to participate in age-appropriate activities to support development of positive self-regard, to support community inclusion, to support positive relations with family of origin and to contribute to placement stability.
The Youth Worker role in these programs is integral to supporting the complex needs of children and the carer families they live with.
- This position works alongside our team of Practitioners in supporting children to complete intervention work to achieve goals.
- Shift length is between 3 and 8 hours typically and differs dependant on the needs of the child or carer being supported.
- Start and finish times can be anywhere between 6am and 8pm (not limited to), with most shifts being in the after-school hours and some weekends.
- Our intention is to match Youth Workers with particular children so relationships are developed, and the therapeutic work can occur consistently.
We’re currently looking for Permanent Part-Time working 30 hours per fortnight, servicing our Caboolture Region. Pay rate starting at: $37.34 per/hour (excluding allowances).
This role involves being the primary caregiver during shift, ensuring the safety of young people in care, and imparting essential life skills to establish a consistent routine. Collaborating with the Coordinator and Service Manager, you’ll help develop trauma-informed interventions for these young individuals with complex issues.
Qualifications, Credentials and Other Requirements
- A Certificate IV or higher qualification in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Youth Services, Community Services, or a related field.
- Current National Police Check.
- Current Blue Card.
- Current Licensed Care Service (LCS).
- Completion of Hope and Healing Framework training.
- Current Queensland Drivers Licence.
- The ability to provide two recent referees of supervisors.
