Make a meaningful difference with UnitingCare
We’re looking for someone who wants to make the world a little better through small moments that leave big impacts. To build meaningful relationships and make a difference in the lives of others.
An integral part of our Family Services team, as a Youth Worker, you’ll be encouraged to grow, develop and feel empowered to make the everyday easier for the people we care so passionately about.
Let’s make a meaningful difference, together.
Your part in our UnitingCare team
We are currently seeking to appoint a Residential Youth Worker to work as a part of our UnitingCare Queensland Team based in Townsville on a casual basis.
You will provide support to young women aged between 16 and 21 years old who are homeless or at risk of homelessness by facilitating inclusion in the residential shelter and in the community. You will also provide practical support and life skills education to assist the young women to move towards independence, gain employment and to source stable and affordable housing.
We pride ourselves on fostering a nurturing, calm and holistic environment to enable our young women to reside in a safe and supportive environment allowing them to rest, reset and heal from past traumas.
Due to the inherent requirements of this programs service delivery, we require female representation, as such we are currently looking for a Female Youth Worker. To be a female is a genuine requirement for the position under Section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act, 1997.
What makes a difference for us?
You will need to have experience in working with disadvantaged youth, with residential experience as a distinct advantage. Applicants must be able to work overnight shifts during the week and on weekends with the ability to also work on public holidays.
In addition to the above, you will have;
- Hold, or actively be working towards a certificate in community services, youth services or related field
- Current Blue Card
- Current QLD Drivers Licence
- Senior First Aid and CPR (or willing to obtain)
