We are looking for a Youth Workers, BASS (Bail and Accommodation Support Services)

Allcare Disabilities Australia is a growing NDIS disability service provider operating in Southwest Sydney and supports participants across the Sydney region. Our passionate and dedicated employees assist participants with all aspects of their daily lives including: 

Community Participation and Social Assistance 

In home supports (including domestic assistance and personal/self-care) 

Supported Accommodation (SIL) 

Day Programs. 

The organisation has been successful in its registration for new services including the BASS program. Through the BASS program Youth Justice works with non-government providers to offer short-term accommodation for young people across NSW.  

Short Term Crisis Accommodation offers accommodation and casework support for young people referred from Youth Justice who are experiencing homelessness. The accommodation provides young people with 24-hour supervision for up to 28 days at a time. 

 

 The Position  

The successful candidate will work in partnership with a team of youth workers to who are responsible for providing high-quality, person-centred service delivery to young people under the BASS program. The team works with young people in an accommodation setting, providing supervision and support in accordance with relevant legislative provisions, strategic priorities, statutory delegations, organisational policies, procedures, and contemporary best practice including supported decision making and trauma informed practice. 

This includes supporting their individual goals, improving their social and community inclusion, and achieving a higher level of independence through ongoing capacity building and decision-making assistance. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Assist young people to access their local community, reconnect with family members and attend appointments/education as required. 

Assist young people to complete their personal/self-care/daily routines and activities. 

Provide capacity building assistance where required and support their independence through supported decision making and trauma informed practices. 

Support young people to manage their emotions and behaviour with the implementation of positive behaviour support strategies. 

Develop and maintain functional and supportive relationships with young people, their families and other stakeholders in order to promote positive outcomes. 

Maintain a high standard of client documentation including incident reports, team communications, submission of daily progress notes and reports. 

Support clients needs through clear communication and interpersonal abilities. 

 

Essential Role Requirements 

Certificates III or IV in Community Welfare, Youth Work, Disability Services or related discipline or working towards relevant qualification.  

Full Australian Driving Licence & fully insured vehicle 

Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate. 

Working with Children Check (WWCC). 

NDIS Worker Screening Check and National Police Check. 

Prior experience working with Youth Services, Youth Justice, and/or mental health. 

Must have a strong understanding of child protection legislation and reporting requirement 

Must have a strong understanding of the complex service system and societal factors facing at-risk young people and working knowledge of supported decision making and trauma informed practices  

Possess a smartphone device to use online rostering and information system 

Desirable Role Requirements  

Degree Social Work, Social Science, Psychology or Human Services or working towards relevant qualification 

Experience working with young people with a disability is highly desirable  

Comprehensive understanding or positive behaviour support
