Apex Ability Support Services is seeking a passionate and dedicated Psychosocial Disability Support Worker to join our team in Shellharbour, NSW. This casual role offers flexibility to work around your schedule and commitments. You’ll play a crucial part in empowering young individuals with psychosocial disabilities to live independent, fulfilling lives within their community.

About the Role:

We are looking for individuals who bring experience in managing complex, dynamic environments, such as law enforcement, corrective services, emergency services, or other support roles. Your skills in crisis management, problem-solving, and providing professional care are highly valued and transferable to this important role in disability support.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Providing personalised support to clients with psychosocial disabilities, helping them achieve their goals and improve their quality of life

• Accompanying clients to social and community activities, promoting engagement and participation

• Assisting with daily living tasks, such as meal preparation, household chores, and personal care as needed

• Advocating for clients’ needs and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care

• Documenting client progress and maintaining accurate records

• Offering a warm, empathetic, and non-judgemental presence, helping clients feel safe and respected

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience in the aged care, disability, or community services sector, with a focus on psychosocial disabilities, or background in roles that require strong interpersonal and crisis management skills (e.g., police, emergency services, or corrective services)

• Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport

• Understanding of person-centred care principles and the ability to tailor support to individual needs

• Genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of people with psychosocial disabilities

• Relevant qualifications (e.g., Certificate III or IV in Individual Support or a related field)

• Valid driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation

• Current National Police Check and Working with Children’s Check
