YOUTH DEVELOPMENT WORKER

This is a permanent part-time role working 20 hours per week across Monday to Friday including shift work during the evening and potential weekend work. ​

Salary from : $54.57 up to $64.17 per hour plus superannuation. (Salary package will be assessed based on skills, experience and qualifications)​

Under Part 2, Section 6 of the Child Protection (Working With Children) Act 2012, this position has been designated as requiring a paid NSW Working With Children Check.

We are looking for an experienced Youth Development Worker to join the team at Wollongong Youth Services. As part of a passionate and professional team, you will utilise your skills in community development to provide positive outcomes for young people.​

What you will be doing:

  • ​Develop, implement, deliver, and evaluate programs aimed at supporting young people.​
  • Engage with young people to understand their needs and provide appropriate support and resources.​
  • Collaborate with community organizations and stakeholders to create opportunities for youth development.​
  • Facilitate workshops, activities, and events that promote personal growth, skill development, and community engagement.​
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on program outcomes and participant progress.​
  • Provide direct support through referrals, advocacy, and access to important information.​
  • Connect young people with appropriate services related to mental health, education, employment, or social support.​
  • Advocate for young people, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are upheld.​
  • Promote respect, inclusion, and healthy relationships within youth spaces.​
  • Foster a safe and supportive environment to help young people build confidence, resilience, and essential life skills.​
  • You will get to enjoy quarterly branch days, team-building days and development opportunities.​

About You:

  • The successful applicant will have a passion for youth-focused community development and direct service provision. You will be skilled at connecting young people with services, support, and opportunities. You will use your well-developed skills to support young people living in the Wollongong Local Government Area to have a voice, to be heard, seen, valued, and to belong. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, as part of a team and the flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
